The Employers’ Advisers Office is established by section 352 of the Workers Compensation Act (the “Act”) to provide expert advice, assistance, representation and educational services on Workers Compensation matters to over 200,000 registered Employers, Independent Operators, Sole Proprietors, Partnerships and Employer Associations that operate in the Province of BC. The Employers’ Advisers Office (EAO) provides services to employers with respect to all aspects of claims, assessments and occupational health and safety (OH&S) matters.

Advisers ensure the interests of employers, and the employer community are considered in the compensation system. Advisers will appear before WorkSafeBC’s Review Division and the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal (“WCAT”) on matters related to compensation claims, assessments and OH&S matters. Educational services are offered via seminars, webinars and speaking engagements.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • University degree in a related discipline (i.e. law, psychology, human resources, occupational
    health & safety, etc.) plus two (2) years related experience; OR Diploma plus four (4) related
    years’ experience, training and/or certification (i.e. CRSP, CPHR).
  • Experience providing advice and assistance concerning various types of legislation, regulations,
    policies or procedures.
  • Experience researching and preparing cases for decision/submission to or appearing before tribunals/boards/commissions/appellate bodies/mediations.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in case management, claims adjudication,
    assessments (insurance), prevention (OH&S), medical and legal review.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with previous experience in workers' compensation and
    workplace occupational health and safety matters.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience preparing and presenting presentation
    materials for educational and informational purposes.
  • Preference may be given to candidates fluent in a second language such as Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, French, Spanish or other.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with no restrictions.
