Occupational Health and Rehabilitation (OHR) delivers specialized services to manage health issues at
work; to assist ill and injured employees to return to work in a timely, safe, and sustainable manner; and
to improve accountability for and management of health-related absences in the public service.
The Occupational Health Nurse manages disability cases, provides advice, support, and coordination of
resources for employees and their supervisors, and identifies opportunities for early intervention, to help
ill and injured employees return to sustainable work as quickly and as safely as possible. This role works
directly with employees, managers, occupational health physicians, and community health care providers
to provide clinical case management services consistent with current occupational health nursing ethics
and practice guidelines. Within the Workplace Health and Safety Branch principles of early intervention,
